Good/Virtuous Qualities Only for the Divine

ree

Excess of anything is poisonous. Even good habits, when they get out of hand, can be harmful to our mental health.

Kakuma was very particular about neatness and organization. But, sometimes, because this very habit got out of hand, it would not have been lost on Saint Baba Maharaj Arvikar that it was impeding her spiritual journey. But who except Sadguru Mauli Baba would have the skill to get rid of this obstacle with so much love and compassion?

When with Kakuma, Baba would sometimes, in good fun, wipe his hands on the padar of her saree and playfully laugh while saying, “Ma, I wiped my hands on your padar!” And Ma would be totally pleased.

Baba would often compliment and praise her organization and neatness too. Kakuma would send Baba’s white clothes to a laundromat close to her home, to ensure that they were cleaned properly. Some sadhaks have also said that when Kakuma packed Baba’s bag, everything would be carefully and neatly packed and arranged sequentially, by each day’s usage. That way, Baba would be able to find everything without any trouble during his travels.

Saint Baba Maharaj Arvikar always says that whatever work we do, if we do it with a love for the divine, then it is a nishkaam karma (a selfless act). How sadguru recognizes the good qualities in us and turns the direction of its motivation towards a love for the divine is exactly what Baba shows us through the example of Kakuma’s karmayoga
