Transformation of a Thief

When Saint Baba Maharaj Arvikar was in his physical form, all kinds of people were drawn to him in hoards. Those who were kind or unkind, noble or malicious, dharmic or not dharmic, well respected/known or ignored/neglected, people with all of these man-made distinctions would be present. But Baba’s observation and examination of everyone was independent of this. Baba never looked at anyone with the lens of their worldly form. He always only conversed with the part of god that is within each person, acting in their best interest. Baba would welcome the god inside each person with great skill. This is why, at the very beginning of his time in Machnur, for some days, there was a thief and two prostitutes who were able to stay there. 

Baba, through words, actions and the advice he gave, jolted the thief awake and changed the course of his life. 

Once, that thief forcibly gathered some food and cooking ingredients from a market in Begumpur, brought them to Machnur, showed them to Baba and said, “Maharaj, today I will prepare a big feast with all this, for you.”

Baba, in order to bring about change in his mental disposition (vrutti), said, “Look here Dagdu. I will happily eat your food. But you must first listen to what I tell you.”

Once he put his hand on his heart and agreed to that, Baba said to him, “Right now, immediately, go to the village of Brahmapuri and distribute all of these supplies to the poor, people who need them. Then we will eat.”

A saintly/virtuous feeling awakened within Dagdu, and truly, he happily distributed all of the supplies he had stolen, to the poor. 

That thief kept changing through Baba’s company (sahavas), and the prostitutes also began walking the path of truth and righteousness. 

Saint Baba Maharaj Arvikar says that the doings of Shri Guru are like this. They are the doctors of world diseases! They are going to heal the problem from its very root. The medicine is: Brahmaras Kadha (a healing tonic of the essence of the universe)
